How the grid counts

• Each step is a sixteenth note and the tempo counts quarter notes, so 16 steps make one bar of 4/4.
• Swing, by the convention used here, is the share of each pair of sixteenths (or eighths) given to the first one: 50% is straight and 67% is close to a triplet feel.
• A closed hat cuts off a ringing open hat.
